Wholesale Lab Grown Melee Diamonds - Bulk Parcels for Manufacturers

Full sieve size range, consistent quality, direct from our Surat facility since 2018.

Melee Diamonds Introduction

Melee diamonds serve a different purpose than solitaire-grade stock — manufacturers setting a hundred stones into a single pavé band don’t need any one stone to be exceptional, they need all of them to match. Consistency across a parcel matters more here than any individual stone’s grade, which is exactly where melee suppliers most often fall short — mismatched sizing or uneven color within a single parcel is the most common complaint manufacturers have about sourcing melee.

OCS Diamond stocks melee across the full sieve size range, in both CVD and HPHT, refreshed every 2 days alongside the rest of our inventory. Since 2018, we’ve supplied melee to jewelry manufacturers across our 50+ client base in India, the USA, the UK, Europe, the Middle East, and Australia, with the same IGI-backed, internally-reviewed quality standard we apply to every stone we sell.

Parcel orders start at a 5 carat minimum. If this is your first order with us, you can request a 1 carat sample — fixed or mixed size — to verify consistency before committing to bulk, with the same advance-payment or escrow terms as any order.

Understanding Melee Sizing

The trade uses sieve numbers, not just millimeters, to sort small diamonds by size — a physical sieve plate with holes of a specific diameter separates stones into consistent size bands faster and more precisely than measuring each stone individually. In standard Indian trade terminology:

Star

below 1.2mm (sieve -2), sometimes called "diamond dust" - used for the finest pavé and micro-accent work

Melee

Every piece created individually - never pulled from bulk stock.

11+

2.7mm to 3.7mm (sieve 11 to 16), roughly 0.08 to 0.20 carat per stone - used where a slightly larger accent stone is needed

We stock across all three ranges. If you’re ordering by sieve number rather than mm or carat, our team can convert and confirm availability for your exact specification.

What Determines Melee Pricing

Melee pricing works differently than solitaire pricing — you’re buying consistency at volume, not grading any single stone’s exceptional qualities. Price per carat generally increases as sieve size increases (larger melee costs more per carat than star-size), and clarity consistency across a parcel matters more than the ceiling grade of any one stone. A parcel with tight color and clarity matching commands a real premium over a mixed-grade parcel of the same average quality, because matching is exactly what a manufacturer is paying to avoid having to sort themselves.

Where Melee Diamonds Are Most Commonly Used

Standard melee (1.8mm-2.7mm) dominates halo and pavé band settings, where dozens to hundreds of stones surround or line a piece. Star size melee is used for the finest detail work — micro-pavé and delicate accent lines where standard melee would look disproportionately large. 11+ size melee bridges the gap between accent stones and a true center stone, often used in three-stone or cluster settings where a slightly larger supporting stone is needed without the cost of a solitaire-grade piece.

Frequently Asked Questions

The full range — Star (below 1.2mm) through 11+ (up to 3.7mm). Tell us your sieve number, mm size, or carat target and we’ll confirm current availability.

Every parcel is internally reviewed by our gemology team for matching before it’s listed — this is specifically what most melee buyers tell us they struggle to find elsewhere.

Yes — tell us your setting type and stone count, and we’ll confirm whether we can match that from current stock or need to build a custom

parcel.

A sample is a smaller quantity (starting at 1 carat, fixed or mixed size) meant to let you verify consistency and quality before committing to a full 5 carat minimum parcel order.

This depends on the order — smaller melee is typically certified at the parcel level, while larger 11+ size stones can be individually certified on request. Confirm your requirement with our team before ordering.
